Dr. Alda Ngo is a registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who has been specializing in Reproduction and Fertility since 2007. For over a decade, Alda has been part of the dynamic teams at Acubalance Wellness Centre in Vancouver and Whole Family Health in Edmonton, helping patients reclaim their fertility. She has supported hundreds of people through the often challenging process toward parenthood, by cultivating overall physical and mental-emotional well-being. Her clinical practice is informed by her mentoring relationship with fertility expert and author Dr. Randine Lewis. (The Infertility Cure and The Way of the Fertile Soul ). In addition to her clinical Chinese Medical practice, Alda has also facilitated various mind-body-based programs with other fertility professionals, such as counsellors, art therapists, nutritionists, and fertility centre nurses.

Alda was first introduced to meditation practice when she was 10 years old, under her mother’s guidance. Since 2005, she has been a Mindfulness Meditation student of Vietnamese Zen Master, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and author, Thich Nhat Hanh. Her practice is also informed by the works of several esteemed researchers. For example, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, a molecular biologist and professor emeritus of medicine, who famously pioneered the Mindfulness movement in Western psychology and education. Dr. Kabat-Zinn also founded the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, which has become a standard in stress reduction research and treatment programs. Another important influence for Alda’s work is Harvard psychologist and professor Dr. Alice Domar, who has made use of Dr. Kabat-Zinn’s pioneering work to develop an extensively researched mind-body fertility program to address the negative impacts of stress on reproductive health.

Alda’s Mindfulness for Fertility program is a culmination of three fundamental pieces: her Chinese Medical Practice, her Mindfulness Practice, as well as a personal familiarity with the fertility journey. As much as Alda’s clinical expertise is based on extensive practice and research, it cannot replace the many years of struggle on her own journey to become a mother. She offers this program in the hopes of bringing the benefits of Mindfulness to those who are overwhelmed by the emotional rollercoaster that comes with trying to grow a family.
